Mr. Cohen was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Communications as of May 2018. Before
joining the Ministry, he served as Chief Signal Officer and Cyber Defense Chief of Staff in the Israel Defense
Forces.
Military Career:
2015-2018 Promoted to the rank of Brigadier General as Chief Signal Officer and Cyber Defense Chief of Staff
Retired from military service in May 2018.
2013-2015 Head of the Planning and Strategic Department in the Directorate for ICT and Cyber Defense.
2010-2012 Head of Operations Department, Directorate for ICT and Cyber Defense.
2007-2010 Promoted to the rank of Colonel as Commander of the Signal Unit, Northern Command.
2004-2006 Commander, IDF Signal Officers Course.
2002-2004 Signal Battalion Commander, Central Command (Operation "Defensive Shield ").
2000-2002 Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Signal Battalion Commander, Judea and Samaria
Regional Division.
1989-2000 Fulfilled several Signal positions, Central and Northern Commands.
1989 Signal Commander, Paratroopers Battalion.
1986 Combat solider, Paratroopers Brigade.
Education:
2012-2013 IDF National Defense College, MA in National Security and Political Science, Haifa University.
1999-2000 BA in Political Science and Middle East studies, Hebrew University.
1991-1992 Practical Electronics Engineer, Tel-Aviv University.
Personal Information:
Mr. Cohen was born in Israel in 1968. He is married to Hannah and father to five children and three
grandchildren.
